My two boars nip at eachother very often. They don’t chatter their teeth or draw blood. But every time one or the other gets in each others face one of them will nip their face. My older pig cinnamon loves to cuddle with me but when my other pig Marble comes to lay by me too cinnamon turns to face him and nips his face. If I have marble close to me or if I put him where cinnamon usually is he’ll run in the middle of us and nip at marble if he tries to come back. Is this bad news?

Hi!

Cinnamon is obviously very conscious of his position and is very stand-offish about it.
Please be very strict about observing the hierarchy with him getting first in everything. If he is not happy about you cuddingling with Marble in his presence, then do so after Cinnamon has already gone back into the cage with a bit of fresh hay or a little healthy treat to keep him occupied. ;)

Nipping is minor dominance behaviour, and yours is not out of control.

Sometimes when I am giving attention to marble and cinnamon is nearby he will even begin to lick my hand, cheek, and nibble my chin.

Thank you, I knew nipping was normal but just lately once I gave them both attention he would act frantic and run on my chest making it red licking all over me and nipping my chin sometimes hard. I will start giving them cuddle time separately from now on, I’m happy to hear it isn’t an issue. :)

My Bill and Ted love cuddles and strokes equally. If they are in their cage I usually stroke Ted first as he is more likely to come to my hand first. After he has been stroked I stoke Bill, but as soon as I do this Ted will position his head right up against my hand so I have to stroke him too. He’s never pushed Bill out of the way but really butts in, I think he is jealous or he wants ALL the attention haha

Awww haha, I’ll admit they are very cute when they demand attention. I just feel awful when he nips at marble all because he wants to lay by me and get some warmth. Plus he’s younger than him so I expect cinnamon to be the mature adult! Jk lol. 😂
