I have an elderly ladypig who sleeps most of the day, does normal shaped poos and seems to eat well.I have noticed a downward trend over the last few of months and she is at 890gms - at her heaviest she was about 1050 gs when she was a young thing.I realise that they do loose weight as they get older and I will be booking an appointment with my vet and asking for an x-ray of her teeth and jaw as her sister Noodles passed last August from dental disease (as far as I can tell they probably came from the same litter - Pets at home - and her age is correct give or take a week)
Can anyone with a sow over 6 years of age let me know their weight please? I have started syringe feeding to top up and will be giving some extra apple pear and carrot to see if I can put some weight on her.

Yes, that is an acceptable weight for an elderly lady, but it is always advisable to have a vet check to make sure that you are not overlooking anything.

My previous sows were 6 and 8 when they passed, the 6 year old was a smaller lady all her life (about 900g) and didn't loose any significant weight as she got older, the 8 year old did though. She was a monster of a pig in her youth, about 1.4 kilos, if I remember correctly, and she gradually lost weight until she was around the kilo mark when she died.

Her body just sort of got ... softer? If that makes sense. I guess her muscle mass decreased as her age increased! I think she started to loose weight when she was about 7? But it was quite a long time ago now.

My 6 year old was 934g on Saturday so I would say yours is around a good age but I just had mine checked by a vet and she said that I shouldn't need to start worrying yet as it is winter and they live outside so use more energy to stay warm :)
