How much should they weigh?

I know i saw a [*]Weight[/*] thread somewhere the other day! lol
I cannot find it now. I just got my cute little kitchen scale in UPS today! :<>
And cant wait to go home and weigh the girls. But i'm curious...how do i know if my girls are up to weight...or not... seems funny to be excited to weigh them..when i dont know the standard to judge by... mallethead

But they do that to me...I'm learning so much here...thanks so much for everyone being here for learning/support! I'm so glad i found you even though most are in the UK! -c
 
Basically, the weight varies enormously, between 800g and 1800g, but there are some adults that stay even lighter. On average, most adult guinea pigs will be between 800g and 1300g, with males generally a bit heavier.

They reach most of their adult weight by about 1 year old, but most have another last growth spurt afterwards at about 14-15 months. From then on they are usually pretty stable until they lose condition in old age.

And please don't ask me how much that is in pounds and ounces - I'm continental and still struggling with the concept of stones!
 
ounces/grams

i noticed in the thread that I cant find.... everyones weights were in grams...so i made sure my scale has ounces & grams. Thanks for the info...my girls are about 2 months & 3 months(so i am told) Abby is the smaller Abysinnian and Molly is the larger Smooth Coated one.(in my avatar pic) I guess i just bought it to make sure that they are gaining weight and not losing..lol I want them to be healthy
 
Generally, youngster will put on weight, but they have growth spurts like we do, and sometimes grow more than at other times.

Only worry, if they are losing weight or piling on over 50g a week (pregnancy).
