(not sure whether this should be here but hey, I'm sure someone will it for me if it's in the wrong place :))

How much time out of the cage/hutch do your piggies get a day and where does it happen?

My piggies get time out on the grass when it's nice weather and the grass is dry but that's very rare lately! They also get out for cuddles etc. throughout the day but I feel they're not getting enough time out so I'm going to make a playpen thingy in my room from spare grids for them..now, I'm just wondering, I'm going to put down a mattress protecter thingy (for waterproofness), then a sheet of fleece and then the grids on top. If I put them there everyday will it become boring? I'm going to move around toys, add interesting foods, etc to it.

Soo..yeah.

Sounds good to me. Mine are in and out all day when I am home (well, they take it in turns as they will fight otherwise) and just do their own thing ;D I have 3 large tubes dotted about, one behind the armchair, one behind the sofa and another one wherever. They tend to have a run around and then snooze under the couch. They go back into their cage for a wee which is excellent and I hoover up bazillions of poops at the end of the day!

The playpen is a good idea Jane, piggies need plenty of room to run around.
Your setup sounds great Jade.
My pigs are in pens of various sizes,so the pigs get moved around every few days so they all get a turn in the larger pens.Gives them a change of scene as well.

Thanks. I'm interested in your set up - are these like runs in a shed or various cages/runs throughout your house? Any pics? :D

I put my piggies out as soon as it is dry enough. if I go out they get put in but if I am at home they stay out for as long as possible. Ronald and Donald arent keen on being out for long periods so I usually put them back in after a while. They all have fairly spacious cages so they can run around when the weather is bad and I change their toys around so they dont get board. :)
