How much to feed?

Hello all. :) Doing a bit of digging about guinea pig food.

I know that you should give guinea pigs fresh hay/pellets every day, so what's a good amount to give them? Also I've heard that you shouldn't give guinea pigs pellets at all, only hay and vegetables. All of the pellets that I've found so far have been alfalfa based. ?/

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm kind of confused.
 
mine have meadow hay available 24/7 and a bowl of muesli plus burgess nuggets - long story. There are some great nuggets available on the market, have a look in the food section of the forum for some guides on guinea pig dry food.

They should have some type of dry food, whether you feed muesli or nuggets is personal choice but it helps keep their teeth down as well as providing the nutrients they need from their food.
 
Oooh i didnt realise you could feed meusli added to the nuggets? is that just a extra for them to make the food more fun or a essential? :))

I had a small bag of burgess when I thought I might have the girls home last month (before I found minty was with child), and during the time I had before they actually could come home I found a big bag of mr johnsons museli mix which is what they were already on. I ideally want to put them on nuggets so I thought why not offer them both at the same time. I have a small dog/cat duo bowl that I have one side with museli and the other with some nuggets. I am not sure this is a brilliant idea but I dont see why they cant have the choice, plus it uses up the museli too.

Thats why its a long story :red
 
Same as me! I wanted to feed burgess nuggets and had bag of Gerty museli to use up so feed a mix. They love it! Tend to fill up when needed.
 
same lol at the mo mine are getting wagg (which they LOVE) with a bit of excel blackcurrent and oragano (free bag b:D)
