I feel like a mean piggie mummy. :( I don't think my girls are getting enough vegetables... I have read what some people feed and feel awful! My 3 get what ever peelings there are left over from dinner (there's something different everyday) and my Grandad often gives me some veg from his garden for them. If I go to the supermarket I love finding bargains for them. Just got some peppery watercress from Tesco for 10p! Is this ok for them? Should I be giving them a real mixed salad every evening?

Think I should start buying separate veggies for the piggies now though...

I buy veg especially for mine. They have two bowlfuls a day, morning and tea-time. Their favourite is curly kale and they also get a variety including carrots, turnips, broccoli. cauliflower, sweetcorn, peppers, apples, pears, tomatoes, cucumber. There is a long list of things they can have. It's posted on here:

Mine have a veg drawer in the fridge! I grab the bargains once a week through morisons, bout £2 a week for variety!

My gang get vegetables twice a day. I buy vegetables especially for them as I believe it is essential for their diet. :)

Yep, I do a special piggie shop, scout around for the bargains on a Friday night at tescos, aldi on a Saturday for the super 6 where items are 39p each, or whenever I see salad and veg cheap, I'm there!

I prep a box of fresh veg in the evening and one for the morning,I use the take away plastic boxes.

So they get feed twice daily.:p

I do buy extra veggies especially for my piggies. If you try shops like Aldi, their veg is much cheaper than big supermarkets.

I give mine veggies, nuggets and a small amount of hay in the morning. Then they get extra hay and a little bit of something else fresh in the evening/late afternoon.

I give mine veg twice a day and a proper "luxury" salad once a week (the only thing that makes it luxury is the whole carrot I put in, because I don't give them carrot every day haha)

I like to vary what veg they get each day so they don't get bored.

I also like to put the veg that doesn't "stick" inside a shallow basket filled with a mixture of meadow hay, tastier herbage hay and woodlands forage so they have to have a root round for it and it isn't just in a bowl right there for them to find :)

I fill dittos little pot veg bowl once a day with a mixture of veg i have in which can be brocolli apple pear strawberries cabbage kale spinach carrot cucumber pepper and many more he also has washed dandelion leave out of the garden :)

Sorry to hijack this thread but exactly how much veg should a piggie be getting daily?

I currently give mine (both about 10 weeks old) a handful of mixed veg twice a day. Is this enough for two piggies (they probably think not!) or should I give them more?

Thanks

I just use a 1-cup measuring spoon and fill it up to the top. I give them 2 scoops of that size in the morning and 2 in the evening. It seems to work for them. I buy from the reduced section in tesco on the way back from work so it's something different every day and it's not expensive. I also buy loose veg for a cheap treat and variety - a loose carrot is about 6p, 3 sprouts about 15p etc.

Is it a small handful per pig a day once a day? I fill up their little food ball with a variety of veggies and in about 20 mins it has gone. Whilst I would say that is a handful of pig I wonder if they should get more in the evening? After looking at their poops they seem shiny some think any more veggies and they may get diarrhoea.
