I have two 7 week old babies. I have been feeding them roughly one cup of veggies per day per pig (divided into two feedings), but it seems like an awful lot for such small piggies! I've noticed that one of them seems to be getting quite fat. I thought that maybe it was because I'm feeding them both lucerne hay and Cavy Performance pellets (also lucerne-based). I will probably switch them to a different type of hay within the next few days. But anyway, is this a good amount of veggies to be feeding babies?

Sorry I'm not sure as I only have 8 week old piggies myself but surely they will just eat what they want to eat? As soon as I see they aint all that interested in the veggies anymore I take them away, but they usually polish the majority of them off in one go. HTH

Piggie's are pig's so they will eat and eat and eat, I'm not sure what the amount is for baby piggie's but i feed my adult pig's roughly one cup a day of veg (that's cup not mug I have been confused lol) I wouldn't personally give babie's too much melon or cucumber type thing's as it can give them the run's as i found out when mine were little:red

When I had both my sets of babies, I just gave them 2 veggies a day, in small portions. Where I normally give my adults about half a carrot, I was only giving the babies a couple of slices, after a couple of months I started giving them a bit more, and a bit more.

I'm afraid I'm not sure of how much veg they should be getting but I'd have thought it was more likely the pellets making them fat as opposed to the veggies.

I know this from overfeeding my buns as the packet said to feed them unlimited amounts and then the vet told me off as they were obese! Eeeek, they are normal bunny size now though and mainly just eat veg and hay with a handful of pellets each twice a day. I know it's different to piggles though but thought I'd share! :)
