Cinnamon’s weight has been going up and down a lot lately, I have been weighing her daily since she had a respiratory infection and it varies from 1030 to 1105, it goes down then back up sometimes in the same day. The vet gave her a clean bill of health and said weight fluctuates for her the same as it does for humans, but this seems like big changes. Should I be checking for anything? She is eating, pooping and behaving normally.D58B47FD-0B85-4D61-958D-8A0950853877.webp

Hi!

That is a large fluctuation; normal weight swing is within 30-40g (max. 50g) over the course of 24 hours. Please try to always weigh at the same time in the feeding cycle, like before or after giving a meal so you can even out the weight swing as much as possible.

There may be an underlying issue, but it is likely not going to be easy to diagnose.

All the best for a good recovery. The good news is that your girl still has a very good weight! ;)

I have just had the same problem with my Edward. He was weighing in at 1050g - 1100g and then I noticed his appetite was off and he suddenly weight 989g. I rushed him to the vet where he was given a clean bill of health and she couldn’t find anything wrong with him. Thankfully, he started eating again and his weight is back to normal the following day.

As advised above, make sure that you weigh at the same time everyday if you’re worried and once a week as a general rule of thumb. I tend to weigh on clean out day just before breakfast
