I have brought some dried grass but have been reading the should have this once a week and Timothy hay the rest of the weeks ?

Hello, they should have hay available at all times regardless of whatever else you are feeding them. Some people feed a small amount (handful) of dried grass once a day, some feed it maybe once a week as a treat, some won't feed it at all. If you do choose to feed it I'd start with just a small amount so they have time to get used to it.

:agr:
It makes a great forage though - particularly in the winter when fresh grass is off limits. I give it occasionally - but only a small amount.

You can mix it up in their regular hay to make them forage around for it, I do this with my pigs and they love it!:) but just to start off with I would give them a handful maybe once a week until their digestive system get used to it because it can upset the balance a bit. And maybe after 2-3 weeks you can start building it up. I used this method also with my piggies and they were fine, and I feed it about three times a week mixed in their everyday hay:) (they usually get about a handful in their hay because I heard it can he quite high in calcium)

a small handful between the piggies each day is fine, but i'd slowly build upto that amount as with any new food. dried grass/readigrass is only slightly higher in both calcium and protein than regular hay (except alfalfa) so it is perfectly fine to feed a small handful daily, or even a small bowl full daily if you wanted to :)

I recently started giving mine a big handful of readigrass every day, they really like it. They usually get it in the afternoon just before I go to work or when I come back from college and they start running around the cage as soon as they smell it! :)
