How often do you bath your guinea pigs ?

I bath my long haired piggies the most but only ever when they need it. My short haired piggies (and the longs) get bathed once every 8 weeks through the summer just to keep them clean and to keep nasties away but apart from that - only if they manage to get filthy.

I don't regularly bath them and they can often go months and months without one - especially over late Autumn-late Spring. :)

Mine are both long haired and they have bath about every 4 months, they have someone come to the house for a wash and blow dry , balm on there paws, nails clipped. proper pamper session lol ! Just wondered if every 4 months was about right ?

I rarely bathe my short haired boys as they don't need it and it stresses them out. Kevin my coronet requires a bath more often, it's still pretty infrequent though. I usually keep on top of his bottom fur however tangles still happen so these are usually the times that he's subjected to the dreaded bath. He loves the snugly cuddles in his towel afterwards though.

That sounds about right to me!

Properly pampered piggies. I shan't be letting mine know about the pamper sessions as they'll all demand one over here! :D

Every 4 months-ish as well, apart from my coronet, and that isn't because he is long haired, but because he stinks! My other long haired piggy is a lovely smelling boy lol. I'd rather wash them to little than too much, i currently have a long haired piggy at work who was washed a lot by his previous owner, but never dried adequately and he has a cradle cap like patch by his grease gland, and a number of cysts where his sebaceous glands have worked over time trying to replace all the oils and grease that has been washed off.

My short haired boys only have a bath for the purpose of cleaning their grease glands - otherwise they'd never have a bath! My long haired pigs have a bath at the same time i give them a haircut which is about every 6-8wks - 3 of my long haired piggies are boys, so again they have to have their grease glands cleaned regularly. My aby girls have had about 3 baths in their lifetime and two of these were bonding baths...

I dont think bathing short haired females is at all necessary - maybe a quick bum bath throughout the summer months if they go outside should be all that's required. Boys on the other hand need regular cleaning whether they be long or short haired...

i wont even mention my long haired beauties - mucky doesn't even come close!!

The ones with slightly longer hair get a bath about every three to four months. Cotton actually needs one, she has what my bf calls a "polar bear bum". They don't like it, so we really just do it to them if they seem to need it.
