Hi there,

I was just wondering how many times a day you feed your guinea's and how much?
My boyfriend has moaned at me about feeding our Lincoln too much. I think he may be right as i just hate seeing his bowl empty incase his hungry.
We have had to move him into the living room as my brother has had to move into the spare room (Lincolns room) and his allergic to animals. So now i see him all day and his constantly squeaking at me for food.
He has pellets as his dry food as he was picking his favourite bits out and not eating that much. He doesn't look like his put much weight on but i'm worried i'm over feeding him as his only 9 months old.

Any replys would be great.
Thanks :) x

I've no idea if I'm right or wrong, but my 3 piggies have hay all the time and "muesli" (and yes, they do pick out what they like, but they didn't eat the pellets at all). I don't top these up during the day. I give them some fresh veg twice a day - if they haven't finished it by the next feed, I take out the leftovers and put in fresh. I know most people seem to put the veg in a bowl, but I put mine in different places on their floor. They always get 1/4 cucumber and some cabbage leaf (whole, not chopped up), and carrot, sometimes corn on the cob or pak choi or apple or celery - but none of them drink much if any water, so I like them to have the cucumber and other veg for moisture. They are big pigs (a family, dad mum and daughter) but not overweight.

Basically I do the same, they always have pellets and hay available and I give veg morning and night. For example, tonights veggie meal was baby pak choi, curly leaf lettuce, baby corn cob, baby carrot and a little parsley. I try to vary it as much as possible and dont give too much of kale, greens or spinach as these are high in calcium.

my pig has lots of hay and his bowl of pellets(not too many pellets) as well I give him veggies in the morning and at night.. and of course water

I am the same as above postings really.
My piggies always have hay - both in their bedrooms and in a hay rack, a bowl of gp mix (I am trying to get them over to pellets ::)) and fresh veg daily. I normally pop some veg in the hutches in the morning before work, then top up their mix and hay at teatime.
Usually in the winter I put some more hay in their bedrooms just before I go to bed to keep them warm at night.
