How often do you huinea pigs scratch?
I'm not sure if mine are scratching too much.
They don't have anything in their fur, their skin is nice and healthy, no dandruff, the hair doesn't fall out easily.
I'm starting to think I just have itchy piggies.
A vet has looked at them and he didn't see anything.
I gave them a few baths in gorgeous guineas lice shampoo just to make sure but it didn't make a difference.
I also changed the washing powder I use for their fleece multiple times (I tried normal ones and sensitive skin ones)
I tried drying their bedding outside and in the dryer.
I tried loads of different hays.
I also changed their food to see if it makes a difference.
Is there anything else I can do to see what's causing it?

Not sure of the answer for your piggies but mine scratch very rarely indeed. I only notice them scratch now and again.

That's such a useless and rubbish reply i know but it will bump up your thread!

I will see mine scratch several times a day when they are indoors as well as general grooming. Sorry I can't be more specific about 'several' !

It is so funny that you posted this now.
Today during floor time my 3 seemed to be constantly scratching.
I immediately got out the sellotape and microscope and took lots of samples, all of which were clear - barley a flake of dandruff between them - never mind anything crawly.
Their coats are soft and shiny, and their hay also came up 'bug free'.
So I also have guinea pigs who scratch a lot.

I see my boys scratch a few times a day, but I pick them up daily to check them over for peace of mind, my boys lay in hay so I guess that could get in their fur and need a good scratch, but I see Tubby licking Dom's eyes more than anything else

Thank you for your responses!
I might be a bit paranoid because nobody else notices it but when I see them scratch I sit there and I wait (sometimes about 10 minutes) until one of them scratches again and then I get worried :(
