My boys are now 5 months old and Hoggle has had 2 baths and Ludo 3 in this time - this is because of their bums being full of wee, the rest of their fur is beautiful.

Is it harmful to be bathing them that often? They need another already or do you think I should spot bath their bums only?

i only tend to bathe mine maybe twice a year. i try to wait until the weather gets warmer, but baxter's recently started to suffer from impaction so i gave him a bath the other day, making sure he was fully dry with a hot water bottle and a low setting hairdryer.
i don't think it's recommended to bathe them a lot- giving them a small wash and brush should be sufficient in between.

By the looks of you avatar your boys are long haired hence why they have needed so many baths.

Guineas genrally need a bath when they look like they need one.

Obviously long hairs get wet around their bum easily and sometimes just need their back end having a quick bath, if you havent already it may be worth cutting their hair around their bottoms to reduce the chance of it getting wet, they will still get wet but hopefully not as often.

I gave them a trim last night and took a few tangled clumps out. They hated it and Hoggle cried so much. :(

I hate doing it and convince myself I am going to cut their skin. :(

I may give them a better trim tonight after their wash.

My piggies are outside so they've not had baths since late October, they'll start getting baths when they can be kept in overnight to dry off fully, but atm the heatings on and I'm worried about temperature changes.

Some are looking a little bit grubby particularly the new girls but they've never been bathed in their previous home so they'll be first on the list once the weather starts to get warmer. I can't wait to see how Daisy will look after a bath, since coming to me, her coats gone from being really coarse almost rex looking to lovely and soft and fluffy, and that's just purely been a change of diet and bedding.

I only have one long haired who I've kept his coat shorter and he gets a bath once a month in the summer, or at the very least a bum bath, but tbh it's easier giving him a full bath, the short haired boys get a bath maybe twice a year, though they do get their feet washed and bums wiped if needed.

My vet told me that with long haired piggys or piggys who suffer with dry skin should be bathed at least once a month, he also said that it wouldnt do any harm in bathing them every 2 weeks. Mine had some dry skin when he seen them and he gave me some hibiscrub shampoo and it works a treat. He told me to keep using the hibiscrub as a shampoo for them as its really good stuff and help kills any fungal spores that maybe present and it wont do them any harm as he said you cant over use this shampoo.

You can get hibiscrub from boots £7.99 a bottle and it should last you ages as you only need a small amount as it lathers up well. :)

I'm going to use hibisrub from now on as the boys have long hair and its all shiny/soft since ive been using it. :)

I am currently using P@H shampoo, which is ok but I think they deserve a posher one! I will try that one out when I have some money, I have loads of the P@H one left so I will use that one first. My only problem is it doesn't smell of anything and I want them to smell posh!

What is the gorgeous guinea range like?

The hibiscrub smells nice and its bright pink. The vet told me to make sure its all washed out as it may turn white pigs pink!

I have got gorgeous guineas mankum&neem shampoo here but it dont smell that nice! But it is for fungal problems. I know that posh and go seems to be a hit on here and i think Laura uses it on her long haired pigs. :) Maybe try that?

I will definately try the hibiscrub, sounds nice! Although I don't think Hoggle would be pleased if I gave him a pink fringe and chest! :(|)

Posh & Go sounds good too, oh the choices!

When i first put it on Joey who is white/ginger i thought 'oh my god he is going to be pink' as its SO bright, but luckily he stayed white and i could see all the pink rinsing out. Phew! :))

GG Posh and Go for Woody, he's prone to fungal, came from rescue recovering from it and has small patches appear from time to time so he gets a GG Manuka and Neem Shampoo sometimes too.

The Posh and Go makes him look so posh though, and he really knows it he's a spoilt little drama queen, but so lovable with it.

The GG products are made specifically for Piggies skin and are so gentle but work so well, you could always order trial sizes first to see what they're like.
