My guinea pig is very sick with diarrhea. I'm worried he's not going to pull through tonight. I've been feeding him critical care but I wonder how many times I should feed him? I don't want to overdo it but I'm also concerned he's not getting enough to eat.

Of a piggy isn't eating it's an emergency situation. Have you taken him to the vet? What was the diagnosis? Only a vet can tell you what is wrong. A piggy that isn't eating needs to be syringe fed every 2-3 hours day and night as much as they will take along with water after every 2 or 3 syringes of CC.

I took him to a vet the other day. I don't feel the vet is very knowledgeable, but he's the only one who will even see guinea pigs within miles of where I live. My guinea pig had been taking some bactrim for his UTI and he started having diarrhea. The vet decided to switch him to orbax, but I feel like the orbax isn't going to help him. I've also started him on probiotics (he wasn't taking them with the bactrim because I didn't know that you were supposed to give probiotics with it, which may have caused the problem.)

He hasn't eaten on his own since Sunday except for yesterday when he nibbled on a small piece of hay and then hid again.

Another thing I feel like I should mention is that he looks like he's interested in eating, but then he just... doesn't. If say I put veggies in the cage, he will come out like he's excited and sniff them. And he might even nibble on it a bit, but he doesn't actually eat it. After a minute he walks away and goes back into hiding again.
