I'm trying to get my piggys use to my hand.

Although one got a eye injury shortly after I got them and had to apply eye drops 3 times a go for a week. So she probably fears me and may never come near my hand.

But generally how often should I try to get them to eat out of my hand?

They are still very skittish and doesn't look like there anymore use to me.

Should I just try once a day?
Or once every other day?

Thanks for advice

How long have you had your piggies? Are they indoor or outdoor?
About 3 weeks now. They are indoors

I heard it's a good thing that if they scare and come back out quickly again it's a sign they are starting to trust you or like you..

I know it's still early days yet

I’ve had mine two just over four months and and I try pretty much every day to offer food from my hand. One will sometimes take it when he is in the mood, but the other one has never taken food from me and runs off if he sees me - he is also the one which had a hay poke two weeks after I got them and had to be forced to be picked up so I could give his eye drops, whether it is related to that or whether if is just his character I don’t know

My most skittish piggy I have had around a year and a half and there are only 2-3 foods she will actually eat from my hand :)) that said she was fairly traumatised when I got her and very young. She now eats in the open most of the time (when the others don't push her back into a hidey so I see that as progress)

My advice would be to start trying to hand feed in cage to build trust. Start off putting some nice veggies to your piggy when they are in their hidey, and walk away, after a few times offer the food in the hidey by holding it - if they take it great - if not just pop it down in the hidey. Keep doing this till they take from your hand hopefully they will take it off you as you hold it in for them... after a while try offering it a little further from the hidey so they edge out and take it from you.
