how often should i wash them?

I have always wondered how often i should wash my piggies so i dont cause them any skin problems with washing to often if that is even possible i usually wash them every 3weeks is this to often or to little? ? ?
 
I do mine evry three months, sometimes a bit more often in the summer and they have been playing in the garden. Pepper gets bathed a bit more often though, as she has long flowing white fur, and she sits in her wee and stains it yellow! ::) I dont know if you can cause skin problems by washing them too much.
 
So is every few weeks to often as i notice that there coats can smell sometimes with lying in wee

I got told bout skin problems from the OH he must of just been telling me porkys! :tickedoff: ;D
 
He might have been right. I dont have any experience of that sort of thing. Somebody who does should reply soon!
 
I don't bath mine as often, just when their coats start to look a bit dull.
Every three months is fine but every three weeks might be too much? :-\
Not sure they would need bathing this often unless they've got long
hair which gets a bit manky!
Gorgeous guineas do nice shampoos and melts ;)
 
i shall keep this in mind i will wash them less often but there coats are shiny and smooth i dont think it is every 3 weeks exactly but its possibly around 1month or maybe just over i dont know exactly i think just whenever i remember i suppose lol ;D
 
i do mine about every 6 weeks, as they do lay in their own pee and get a bit smelly. bobs hair gets really greasy too ::)
 
I try to wash mine every 3 months, but some piggies need washing more than others. :)
 
i wash them when they smelly i dont think its every few weeks just time flies and u wonder where it gets to most of the time lol ;D
 
I've had Sunshine since June and never bathed him he is an Aby and doesn't need it I think every 6 months for him so will bath him sometime this month.
Twinkle gets a bath every three months he is an Aby/Peruvian, black face, grey but mostly white body I will be getting some posh and go for him for Christmas from gorgeous guineas.
Flora and Fleur are smooths and haven't had a bath as yet, every 6 months I expect so in February I'll do them
Eccles is a crested and smooth haired, I'll bath him in May
Pudsey is a rex and I'll bath him in May too.

I'm weary about bathing too much incase of URI's.
 
bob and munchie are a nightmare for getting smelly and dirty. i swear they pee in their pigloo then roll in it ::) silly boys.

wish i could get away with leaving them for 6 months
 
LOL Lez! I've clean boys up to now, I'm always sniffing them and they smell fine, obviously with Eccles and Pudsey being babes that may change. It's the girls who are dirty they poop everywhere! E&P tend to poop ontop of their igloos and keep everywhere clean! :D
 
one day they both just had a bath, then both of them ran in the pigloo, then bob peed in it, and started popcorning! spraying both himself and munchie with it ::) was disgusting and i had to clean them up again ::)
they also like to poop, then stand or sit in it, so it sticks to them while they nap, so i have to clean them up every time i get them out. the mess they make any one would think i never clean them out ::)
 
They want their mummy to work for them! :D I'm up late because S&T have had a barney tonight and I'm making sure they don't have a fight...lol Thats my only problem with them, they may be clean but they need boxing gloves! :police:
 
sounds like S+T like their mummy working fo them too ;D like two naughty kids that need supervising lol
 
my lot can get little rascals to the other day i had to wash 1 of my sows and her babys as i was havin to travel somewhere with them and the mum must of peed and they were all soaked the baby were in need of a good bath so i had to wash them lot as they were soaked from being covered in pee

i also have 2 pink eyed whites 1 is only a few weeks old but the mum of that 1 needs a wash more than the rest as her coat can get filthy really fast
