Me and my boyfriend always feed my piggies fresh fruit in the morning and before we go to bed.
Is this too much?
If so how many times should we give them carrotts etc?

fruit should be used as a treat a few times a week in small portions hay/veg/pellets should be the main foods fruit is high in natural sugars and isnt very good for piggies in amounts like that xxxxx

too much fruit can upset tummys, more veg than fruit as it is better for them

you can feed veg once or twice a day, but hay must always be available

aswell as dry food.

I feed my piggies Vegtables such as cucumber, carrots etc etc twice a day.

I do give them apples and parsley too.

They always have hay in their bedding and around the cage & never miss out on dry food.

is this right?

I feed fresh veg twice a day, mornings and evenings. Once a week they get pears and twice a week they get melon. They always have hay and pellets.

Check this out for some sample menus:

I feed mine veggies in the morning and before bed as well. And of course a constant supply of hay and pellets.

Thanks for the site! ;)

I only feed my girls once a day with veg and that's at dinner time. Occasionally they might get some in the morning - usually at weekends. They only fruit as and when as a special treat. They were very excited this morning as they got a grape each.

Mine get veg in morning and at teatime and this usually consists of spinach leaves, kale, romaine lettuce, peppers and carrots (not all at the same time, they get a mixture each feed). Hay and pellets are available 24/7. They get 'treats' of apple, broccoli, grapes and cherry tomatoes once or twice a week too.

Thanks for the link to the diet plans, didn't know Karen had written those up. I used the related Ca: P article when learning and writing my own interpretation of it!

I also feed mine twice a day, morning and evening. I slipped on that routine when the twins came along, so for two years they were fed only in the evening, but earlier this year I went back up to twice a day and much prefer feeding them this way.

my three have veg once a day, in the morning when i top up their dry food, hay and water
their breakfast would consist of spinach, dandelions, carrots, apple, cucumber grass or brocolli

extra treats would be things like grapes, parsley, orange, melon etc
the extra treats aren't given every day, but when they do get them they still get their breakfast as well (they usually get treats in the afternoon/evening)
