How often....

People do it differently. I think the minimum should be every month but some do it every 3 months and some don't do it.

I washed my peruvians about a month ago and they smell bad now. Going to wash them again later today.

the minimum really depends on each individual piggy,as some are great at getting mucky and some arent, longhairs usually need to be done more often,my shorthairs is about 6-8 weeks between washes, usually my shorthair Smokey gets done more often as he is a grubby piggy, but my Sheltie Cooper will be getting doen every month due to long hair, regular grooming and wiping the face and bottom area keeps them clean in between xxxxxx

Some of my smooth haired pigs have only ever had one bath, some of my longhairs are done every few months. You don't want to do them too often (especially the short haired ones) as it can strip their natural oils, and if they're living outside they'll need their oils to keep them warm in winter.

I do mine in early Spring (when it starts to get warm) and end of summer (before it turns cold) and sometimes again in the middle, depends on the pig.

I've got around 40 usually here so bath time takes a while!

all of mine are due for a bath but its just so cold here at the moment and they may be a little mucky but i dont want them to be cold or get sick so we are waiting for spring xx

Shorthaired piggies you need to bathe only rarely, if they are really mucky; longhaired piggies need baths and special care with their hair more often.

I bathe mine according to how filthy they are; every few months, perhaps...

I have 1 shorthair and 3 abby's and so far no baths :) I've not noticed they smell or arn't physically dirty so I'll problem hold off bathing mine until they really need it :D I think its like everyone's already said - down to the individual pig :)

I used to bath mine twice a year, the same as Sophie said - once in Spring, once at the end of Summer. It worked fine like that, but I have noticed an improvement in the skin and coat condition when bathing a little more frequently. I think once every 3 months is a good guide.

I currently have a mix of long, short and semi-haired - most are short but 2 are long and one is semi. The long-hairs do need bathing more frequently, even with haircuts to keep the hair dryer and cleaner around the rear. On average, my long-hairs do best with a bath and haircut once every 4-6 weeks, and the rest do good with being bathed every 2 months.
