My daughter & I have been talking (and grieving) over the loss of Sunny on Monday. She said something that got me thinking... She said she believes Sunny was older than the 6 weeks the pet store told us he was at the time of his purchase. They did tell us he was a girl, so could they have been wrong about his age too? According to them Sunny would only have been 4 years 3 months old at the time of his passing. Was he actually older? I don't know. I'm wondering if there is any way of telling from a pic how old a piggy is? Below is a pic of Sunny the day he came home. Can anyone tell me if they can determine by the pic if he is actually 6 weeks as we were told?

She looks pretty young there to me but its hard to tell, do you have the full pic?

she looks similar in body to my lola,
when i got lola she was 4 months old (ish)
and i got her dec 2011
so lola is just over a year now
however amber my other pig is the same age as lola but is bigger but she did have babies prior to coming to me,
she had two boys and a girl the lady kept the boys and i took the girls
dec 2011 annie (ambers daughter) was about 4 weeks old
but now shes bigger that both the other two piggies
i guess I'm trying to say that it could be hard to tell
as annie is the youngest in my gang but the biggest
and if i saw them without knowing ages id assume annie was the oldest
i dont think there is a way of telling age really
your vet might be able to?

Looking at that photo id say he looks older than 6 weeka. But hes sat on a childs lap. Still id guesstimate he was arpund 12 week in that photo if not older. X

He definately looks older than 6wks in the photo.
We've had a 6wk old piggy and she looked much smaller than Sunny, although she was underweight when we had her.

I also think he looks older than 6 weeks. Even if on a childs lap he looks too in proportion (if you know what I mean). When I got Archie he was 8 weeks old and was teeny. He was skin and bones though, but eyes and ears look bigger as they haven't grown into them yet :))

Definitely looks older.

To show you here is my then 8 year old granddaughter holding Hazelnut who was 11 weeks of age at the time.

Now here is a photo of the two of them a year later.

I think the piggy looks at least 12 weeks or a bit older.

Here's two of my piggies, Romano and Arthur.

Arthur was 4 weeks old in the photo and Romano was 11 weeks.

I think it shows a good difference between their sizes at young ages.

Here's my boy Archie at 8 weeks compared to the size of my phone :))

I definitely think your Sunny looks older than 6 weeks.

I'd say he looks older than 6 weeks as well.

Here's my pig Billy at 6 weeks with two my full-grown adult boars.
