Over the past year I've met and heard from a small number of people whose neutered boars have passed away and it struck me that very few of them seemed to be elderly ie over five years of age.

None of the boars died from illness related to the neutering and many of them had been neutered for some time.

A few of them are guinea pigs that I had neutered and rehomed myself but some were neutered and adopted from elsewhere.

It's still a relatively new procedure for piggies of course but I was just wondering if anyone had boars that were neutered and had gone on to really old age?

I sadly recently lost my dear old Brokk who was neutered about four years ago whe he was about 12months old. I think I had the first neuters done in 2007/2008.

:)

Would be interested to know what others experiences have been.

My oldest is 4 or so, at least. As a rescue, he may well be older than that!

My oldest neutered lad is seven nearly eight and still doing well :) he has lost his sight in one eye but still keeps his three girls in line.
