Hi,
Today I gave Poco and Figgy some fresh garden grass. They absolutely loved it and had the lot lot (small, about half a handful) down in seconds.
I was just wondering how much grass they should have a day while I'm introducing it into their diet to prevent bloat? And once they are used to it, how much can they have?

Thanks

I would try serve several, but slowly increasing portions over the course of one or two days, so they can digest one lot before they tackle the next.

My two greedy piggies used work their way through a full carte d'or ice cream box worth of scissor cut grass throughout the course of one day on those days they were not allowed out. Not in one sitting, of course!

Several handfulls?

So, You're saying I should give them a small handfull, and then after a while give them another, and so on.
Can they eat this like hay or pellets or is it part of a meal though?

No grass counts with hay - although you should always provide hay as well, as too much wet or rich spring grass can make their poo soft. I tend to give a little bit more pellets and a little bit less veg on big grass days.

On the lawn, you will find that piggies eat until they drop and eat again once they have woken from their digestive nap! If my piggies are on the lawn all day, I always provide them with a hay tray for napping and nibbling.
