How tame are your piggies?

Thanks everyone :)

Our piggies seem to be getting tamer every day. I cleaned out their cages this morning and each one of them was absolutely fine being picked up. They are happy to sit on our laps and eat veggies and vibrate and chirp happily when being brushed and stroked.

They're in our living room where we spend the majority of our time at home - so they're getting very used to us now. We can even approach the cages, open them up to change water without them running away and hiding now. They get quite excited and run up to the bars because they think food is coming <3

I was really worried at first because they didn't seem to be getting tame at all - but they're warming towards us in their own time and I hope it continues!

Love them so much! - <3 Alfie, Ernie, Hugo and George <3

Our larger group are all very tame and come to the pen side whenever we pass, which, since they are in the living room, is very often. We have had them all since they were babies so they have grown up with us. They will wait and climb up onto our hands to come out of the pen, and when it is time to return, we just say "Piggy Taxi" and they look over to my husband who then presents them with his hands and they hop on board for a ride back to the pen. Our smaller group, mother and daughter, are not quite there yet. They are from Suzygpr's rescue. Mother, marigold was a "Wild" Piggy, one of last year's farm rescue, and still has a few issues about being picked up, but as long as she sees you coming it's all right. If you takes her by surprise then she will bite, but is always sorry and will spend ages kissing and washing the bite and will look you straight in the eye with such an expression that you know she didn't mean it! Her daughter, Ruby, is a different matter, she's cheeky and happy and knows the "Piggy Taxi" routine, whereas I don't think her Mum will ever get it.
We currently have a couple of boys staying as fosters from Suzy, Daddy pig and Little Joseph. Both have settled very quickly and are enjoying lap time. They soon got into the food routine and are the "sentinels" for breakfast and supper veg. Wheeking first and loudest as the time approaches. Daddy pig does a very good "Old fashioned" look if he thinks the deadline has passed!

All the piggies, residents and fosters, have got the hang of the "Piggy Pee Dance" and will let us know when it's time to go.:p

I think the more time you can spend with your piggies, even getting down to their level rather than just lap time, the more confident they will become.
I've noticed an enormous difference in Marigold just with quiet, gentle handling as much as possible. She runs out for veggies and will stand eating them while I stroke her back, a great achievement for her considering the situation she was rescued from.

My cheekiest piggy Jem will climb up my legs when i'm on the sofa! We have had him since he was 3 weeks (Hes now 8 months) so he is quite tame. But he still runs away and hides at times. My other boys i have have had nearly a year and its slow progress. It just takes patience.

Peanut, Pickle and Ed are just crazy, I can't even open their cages without them jumping out! Peanut has just always been that way but Ed has watched Pickle and has caught on quick. Lola, Chicken and Skye all come over to the bars but scatter when I open the cage up.

Boo likes the watch me, she won't come over but I see her looking at me. Willow still hides! Nemo and Godzilla also still hide and Miffy, Piglet and Squidgey are kind of getting there, sometimes they come and take food from my hands, other times not so much.
