1) Order the necessary grids and correx
2) Unpack all said pieces and assign children jobs - younger to hand out connectors and cable ties, older to help connect grids as in the picture
3) Smile through the annoyance of grids popping out and connectors breaking
4) Suggest the mini helpers may like to go and watch TV while mummy finishes off
5) As children are out of ear shot you are now free to swear at the grids
6) Grids respond by taking a chunk out of your finger
7) Sit down with a cup of tea to calm down
8) Get back to it and realise your hands are actually really sore from trying to push grids together.
9) Wait for husband to get home and do your best 'I'm a pathetic girl' routine
10) Leave husband swearing at cage and put children to bed.
11) Realise the swearing hasn't abated and nip back upstairs for a bath.
12) Saunter downstairs an hour later to find a fully built cage!

:))

Love those instructions... Nice move at the end getting Husband to do it.

Cage looks great, bet piggles love it

Hehe. Yep, having assembled and taken down my C&C's many times as foster piggies come and go I can really relate to your problems! I found soaking the connectors in hot water for about 5 minutes softens the plastic sufficiently to ease them onto the grids a bit more easily. Your piggies will LOVE it though so it was definitely worth the hassle.

Loving the instructions....:tu:
Great tip further on about soaking connectors too.
My new C&C cage will arrive this week....my babies have outgrown their 100cm cage already ! Although they still somehow manage to run around full pelt and popcorn  in it ! .....so I am pretty excited about how fast these little guys can get in a bigger new cage ? Once it arrives.
Our piggies have taken over my life " I have turned into a crazy guinea pig lady " already hahaha.....hahaha.
Happy cage making everyone ! Xx

I love the flexibility of building your own cage particularly cause we are renting it has been a treat for us... BUT I have developed a pet hate for the grids -.- I can't pop them in properly st all! Hope they have all settled in now :)

Still a bit shy but getting there! They are used to our noises now (impressive given that the noise the kids make still does my head in!) although movement still freaks them!

Ha don't worry about that.. We have had ours for 1 year and the others about 7 months.. Sometimes they all run when one of us bends their finger while sitting on the sofa! :))

That sounds about right. There's a lot of agony involved in making your guinea pig the perfect home but it's worth it in the long run! Nice set up you got there, very roomy. The pigs are definitely going to appreciate it.

They seem happy enough in there! I made some minor adjustments to it today which I shall post about it when I finish homework marking :)

That's an awesome cage and fabulous instructions haha.
