hi , i have 4 guniea pigs and my frieind offered me 2 more and i talked with my parents and they said no immediately , if you guys know how to convince my parents to get me a 5th and 6th guniea pig please tell me .

Hi, is your friend trying to get rid of 2 guinea pigs? If so, you could try a sob story... 😅 But just to be realistic, you should also try to understand where your parents are coming from. I'm not sure how old your current pigs are and if they've needed to go to the vet in the past but understanding you and your parent's financial situation is really important too because you want to be able to properly provide the care they need if a medical emergency comes up. Do you have the time/space/money for 2 extra pigs? If so, then we can continue trying to offer advice:))

yes we do, we actually don't meed to use more money cause we have enough roo for to more and no medical things have happened with my pigs but one sadly died 4 months ago .and yes i would like some more advice.

Do you know why they do not want anymore? It would be helpful to understand their reasoning

Do you have all female guinea pigs? It would be good to double check and make sure the baby pigs from your friend are also all female to prevent any unwanted pregnancies. Is there any way you can contribute to their food/bedding/other costs? If they are not taking up more space, I assume your parents do not want more because they do not want to financially support more pigs.

they are all males , i pay fro there food all-ready and it wouldn't make a difference in the price foe 2 more cause its not that much more, also i have the piggies in my room and everything is on me and all I'm looking is how should i convince them to let me get a 5th and 6th guniea pig

What could you do to show your parents that you will take the full responsibility so they don't notice the difference? Do you have a small job to bring in some of your own money? Do you have a savings account separate to your main bank account to make sure you have funds should any medical needs arise or to purchase pellets, veg and hay?

It’s a difficult one, 6 pigs are a lot of work. Especially as vets bills are very high. I’ve had 5 pigs the last 3 and a half years and it’s probably been about £5000 in vet bills alone so far. That’s not including food etc. Treatments and care have been taxing too, 2 of my pigs are poorly right now so it’s a lot of extra care. It’s all things to consider to provide proper care for many pigs, especially if some fall ill at the same time.

Plus the space, I have a 2x8 cage for my lot so you’d likely need a 2x10 or something depending on genders.

Perhaps addressing these issues with your folks and talking it through could help you all get on the same page and make a decision :)

In addition, I'm not sure if 6 males would get along together....you may end up having to separate them which would require a different cage set up. If you do get them, I just highly urge you to make sure they are the proper sex!

i have 2 cages one with older ones that don't get along with people and another one that does get along , my parents and i aren't really worrying about the costs and stuff cause we talked about that when i got my first guniea pigs

I think you need to have a conversation about the real reason they do not want anymore guinea pigs. Because if space and costs aren't an issue, then I really have no idea why they are saying no. I highly suspect it is a cost concern. Cost may not have been a concern when you got your first piggies, but you are adding 2 more and there's a good chance they will eventually need to be seen by a vet and as @Cavy Kung-Fu said, the vet bills can accumulate to a pretty large figure.

Unfortunately if their reasoning is simply that they don't want them, then there's not going to be much you can do to change their minds. If you're old enough, maybe offering to find a little part time job in return for being allowed these piggies may sway them? I know you say money isnt an issue but if you show initiative and wanting to take responsibility for them yourself by paying for them they might have a change of heart.
