One of my guinea pigs just passed away yesterday and his brother seems to be lonely, as expected considering he’s alone now. He’s lived with this boy for majority of his life and I just feel so sad for him. I’m unable to get another guinea pig anytime soon so I’m looking for ways to help my baby cope.... I read that you can put a stuffed animal lookalike in the cage and they think it’s the real lost piggy, would this be cruel? I’m already planning on spoiling him with a bunch of new toys and treats to help his boredom. What do you guys think?

I am sorry you lost one of your guinea pigs - it is always a difficult time.

However depending on his age it really will be kinder in the long term to consider getting him another friend.
Toys and human interaction are wonderful, but they will never be a replacement for company of his own kind.
