another of my guinea pigs have lost weight. Not a drastic lot. she is eating as normal. I just wandered what i could give her to fatten her up. She is fed on the p@h nuggets mixed in with their Museli, also veg/fruit.

She is having normal poo's.

Sorry if you are all getting fed up with me, i just don't want to go through what i am going through with Tulip.

Thanks

If your pigs need bulking up after illness etc I would recommend Oxbow Critical Care if you buy it from Thistle Cavies Rescue, any profit goes towards the rescue. http://thistlecavies.tripod.com/shop/ if she continues to lose weight regularly it's definately worth getting her checked by a good guinea savvy vet :)

HI Sue.
I'm no expert, but I have read some where that porridge oats can help to gain weight.Just mix it with some boiled water and give it time to cool down before giving it to your piggy.Mine have it for a treat sometimes in the cold winter nights and they love it.Good luck

Thanks i have not heard of that but sounds very yummy.I think they will love it. Will try some today.

Wouldn't feeding oats throw off the calcium ratio though? I would have thought it doesn't have any nutritional value? The Critical Care does and does help in them gaining weight. I go by the rule fruit and veg, pellets and hay. I'm not judging anyone who feeds oats, just interested in what they actually do. :)

Any weight loss usually means something is amiss I would seek advice with a vet first to see if there is an underlying condition making piggy loose weight.

Just wondering ... has she recently been ill and how old she is?
