Hello,
Have 2 14 week old sows, who as far as I know have never had fresh grass. I have a lawn I can access but don’t want to put piggies outside yet. (Don’t have outdoor run yet!) How do I introduce feeding grass to them? Do I wash it? How much? How often etc…
Thank you

If they are not being out directly on the grass, then you can pick them a small handful a day and give it to them in their cage. You can then gradually increase the amount each week.

When you put them on grass in a run, then you start by just a few minutes each day and then build it up by adding in 15 mins or so a week.

You need to introduce it slowly after any break from grass ie over winter. It’s particularly important to go slowly with spring time grass

If you see any soft poops then stop all grass and fresh veg and feed only hay until poops normalise. You can then slowly start reintroducing grass and veg again.

Feeding Grass And Preparing Your Piggies For Lawn Time

Mine don’t go outside because we have seagulls around who would scare the piggies to death.
I take a pasta bowl and a pair of scissors out and cut some grass for mine.
The neighbours think it’s weird but it works!
