Eddie and Elvis love coriander but I can't keep pots of herbs alive for some reason so I just buy a packet but, with just the two of them, it starts to go limp and gross before they've finished it. Is there any way I can keep it fresher for longer so it doesn't get wasted? Thanks

I keep the packet one in the fridge and it usually lasts a week or so. I’m not sure how else you could keep it fresh. As for the potted one, do you keep it watered? Not too much though.

@Siikibam I keep the packet in the fridge so it does last maybe a week. Maybe I'm just being over ambitious with how long it will stay fresh for? When I've had pots I've made sure to keep them watered and put then somewhere with decent sunlight.

@swaller that could work! I tired that once but didn't change out the water. I'll try it again but change out the water. How often should I do that?

We buy the bunched coriander and like others, pop it in a glass with a little water and keep it in the door of the fridge. We change the water every couple of days.

Ooh I’ve learnt a new trick. Though I don’t know if I’d have space to put it in a cup of water 😭

I use the salad storage food boxes that have a removable drip tray . I rinse the herbs before storing them in the fridge . I find the moisture on the herbs keeps them fresh and the herbs are not in contact with excess water . I find I can keep herbs fresh for 5+ Days storing them this way

I bought some from a flower shop and water every four days. Its going well. Also, have you seen those swanky water herbs they are selling on etsy now? Its steep but maybe put out feelers to get one as a gift - it just sits in water and stays alive (i think).

If it's any help, I brought the fresh pot of coriander, after I cut it the first time, it looked very limp, it seems to love water. I'm watering every day and it sits on my kitchen window sill. It's been 2 weeks and it's still going strong. Maybe give it a go again?! You can do it! :yahoo:

I think I will try a pot again. It'll be so much easier than buying packets all the time as long as I can keep it alive 😂
