How do you all keep you feeding hay from getting soiled? I give mine meadow hay for bedding, but nice hay for feeding but I don't know how to keep them from soiling the nice hay. I've heard horror stories from using hay racks so not keen on that and I have a ball that I've filled, but they tend to ignore it. Any suggestions?

I do have hay racks and have used them before (although my sisters bunnies are borrowing them at the moment as they've just been neutered so can't have it on the floor of the cage). I never had a problem previously but am always a bit wary of them. I suppose if you put them high enough that the pigs can reach they hay, but not climb in they should be ok.

i use soft meadow hay in their hay/bed area which i change twice a day to keep clean. then i use the same hay and timothy and rye aswell, and put that inside kitchen roll tubes around the cage. they eat from both but never soil the hay in tubes. the bed they eat from but toilet there aswell so i have to change that twice a day for hygiene. but i don't mind because they like the hay area alot. :)

I use farm hay for both but today have bought some posh hay - I will just mix it up though. Regular hay changes should stop it from getting soiled.
