How to keep one guinea pig entertained?

One of my sows is sadly by herself now as both her sisters have passed away due to an abcess and lymphoma. For now, we are not going to get her another guinea pig as she does not easily accept other guinea pigs and we do not want to put her through the stress of bonding, also, she is quite old and I think she will want peace. She has been alone for the last four days and has coped very well

As well as lots of cuddles, what else could I do to keep her entertained and not lonely in terms of toys? Should I buy her some teddies? Any ideas would be appreciated.

The best thing you can do is get a teddy, but make sure its a baby proof one (no plastic eyes etc)
 
Does anyone know where abouts cuddle cups can be bought from?

Apart from cuddly toys give her things to investigate - apple tree twigs, if you can get hold of them, hay filled toilet rolls on a string, tea towels pegged to the side of the cage/mesh, etc. We have more ideas in our toy thread in the reference section.

PS: How old is your girl? Piggy dating at a rescue is the best way to find out whether your lonely girl really is not keen on company without you having the obligation to take on a piggy that is not working out.
 
Just because she if four does not mean she cannot find her perfect friend. She will be so lonely living alone. The right friend will make a huge difference to her life and make her much happier. Please consider getting her a friend from a rescue were she can pick her own friend.
 
I will do that. It is too soon after a death to get one but yes, I will look into a quiet character her own age.
 
She is not too old by any means - the way is to find a rescue that can introduce her to a range of characters, so she can make her own choice. \

Through piggy dating, I have successfully bonded my very dominant 3 year old Minx with a sow that was the same age. 3 1/2 year old Dizzy fell for the charms of 12 months old neutered Llewelyn, spurning a couple of gentle neutered boars... so you never know!

I have just found a husboar for my two three year old cataract sows that way; one of them, Tegyd, was not what you may call prime bonding material; but things went smashingly and they are a very happy trio indeed.

Please keep in mind that piggies don't mourn any less than humans, but they can't afford to mourn as long - life, and survival, has to go on. The more she is used to company, the easier it will be to bond her.

I see you have an Eglu. I have one as well (the large one) as well as a two-storey hutch and a wooden run. It's a great idea isn't it, but they're not cheap.
 
each to your own and I'm not judging my piggy is 5 and he has just been boar dating and we have a lovely young addition in the form of an 8 week old boar and its so lovely to see he is much braver than when he was with the old piggies but i would definately try a teddy.
