Having a quick look at your piggies nails, a small amount just needs taken off as they look more sharp than long, we tend to cut our piggies nails a little bit at a time..

We prefer to use these cutters which are available from Amazon ( other stores sell them also )

As lisaali above says, they just look ever so slightly sharp, but I don't think they are long. Just the ends nipped off would be fine, but even letting them run around on concrete for a short while used to do the trick for mine!

And just make sure to be swift when cutting so they don't jump and tear their nails :)

I always go by how they look length wise but also if they do accidentally scratch you and draw blood and it scabs over.... I've just gotten my revenge and cut Rory's nails - the amount of scratches he's left on my arms and chest. (He's a boob man ;) ) even you're nervous about cutting them, you can take your piggies to the vets and they'll do it. But it's just practise... Rambo has a habit of screaming bloody murder before I've even got anywhere near her nails and Patch flinches and twitches quite a bit.

For people on facebook, you may want to look at the Cavy Corner site, there is a clip on nail clipping posted on 28th June

I agree with the above comments. These just need tipping to take the sharp ends off. A little often is far better than a lot rarely.

I usually wait until the white bit is long enough to get without too much of a struggle. I did my boys this morning as their little front ones were starting to curl. I tend to put these ones off because they go mad and end up scratching my chest to ribbons and screaming...then I feel like a bad mum and give them the entire contents of the veg drawer!
