We got two piggies in a rehoming situation. They came with a homemade c&c cage. (No coroplast base at all. Just the grids on top of blankets). But the grids have the 8 little squares across each grid instead of the 9 and they are 1.7mm for each square- Which is Slightly larger than the recommended 1.5 inches. I want to make it safer for them while I wait to purchase some c&c grids. (The guinea pig store has a really long wait time!) What do you recommend? They like climbing up to say hi to us so I’d like to keep it clear to see. Would something like chicken wire be okay to wrap around or does anyone have other ideas? Thanks!

I accidentally bought an 8x8 square c&c cage when I first got my piggies and after the first day when we found one of the babies outside the cage we put cardboard on the inside as walls until she was big enough not to get her head stuck in even the smaller 9x9 grids we replaced them with. Obviously requires keeping an eye on the cardboard to make sure they haven’t chewed through it but 5 months on it’s still standing so it should be fine as a temporary solution!

Just saw that you wanted to keep it clear to see so maybe this isn’t the best solution but an idea at least!
