How to stop matts?

Does any one know how to prevent long haired guinea pigs hair matting? On Sweet Pea and Smokey, their hair at their bottoms always matts. I have tried to brush and cut it out but won't work. Any advice? Plus, I can't cut too much of their hair off because it's the middle of winter. AND, wee get on the hair and reeks!

ahhh if only there was something to do about that! you could bottle it and make millions!

unfortunately no, there's nothing you can do, regular grooming, trimming and washing are the only things!
