A few of you may remember that when skinny girl, Minnie arrived at the rescue, she had little pink caps on her back toe nails to prevent her from scratching herself. This seemed to work but I knew that they would have to be removed to cut her nails. I did this but when I tried to put new caps back on I couldn't get them to stay put. I contacted her previous owner who said that she'd put a little glue inside & this held them on. I didn't like the idea of this so left them off. A few days later she had really gouged her back so after applying Sudocreme (as recommended by my vet) I decided to give her a manicure using an emery stick. She wasn't too bad with this as it was only her 6 back toe nails that needed to be done. This has worked wonders with her back which has healed up really well. She now get's a manicure every Sunday morning & is now quite happy for me to do this :) x

We keep our skinnies' nails short too.

Does she seem to be scratching excessively? Phoebe had very sensitive skin and we tried everything including mite treatment and a course of steroids. In the end it turned out to be an inflammation issue and she did much better once she was on a grainless diet. She was also on daily glucosamine as she had Interstitial cystitis too.
