So I'm hopefully going to Milhaven on Wednesday, and I may be having to make the trip solo. It's over 60 miles in the car, and while I've taken little trips on my own with them in the car, does anyone have any advice on how to manage a long trip solo? I have no idea what to do ?/

You don't do anything differently than if you had two or more.

Talk to him regularly to reassure him and have a snuggle toy with him if you wish.

Feed him well with fresh grass or juicy veg shortly before you set out, so he will be hydrated, full and hopefully fall asleep soon!

Hehe, I may have phrased that wrong. I mean taking him in the car on my own. When I took Treacle to Milhaven, my OH was there carrying her the whole way. This time it may be just me driving.

When I go on long journey's I pop the girls into a small cage with a fleece over it so it's dark with lots of hay and veg and then strap them in and go! As long as the carrier/cage isn't sliding all over the place, he'll be okay!

either secure the travel cage on the back seat or put them in the boot with one of the back seats down so when the air conditioner goes on they benefit from it, plenty of hay, a peice of celary , cucumber and they will be fine.
do not attach a water bottle as they will notdrink as just end up sitting in sodden bedding.
don tput them in too big a cage, they will be safer in a smaller travel box.

Best thing would be a cat carrier, it's darker, and can have a seat belt around it quite easily (:

Secure the carrier either on the back seat or the front seat with a belt. Just keep talking to him. Hopefully, he will fall asleep at some point. Don't fret yourself sick - he will be fine!

I have taken single piggies with me for pne of our regular weekends at my MIL's if they had something infectious and they needed regular meds; that is 100m trip each way. Each time they were OK.

most pigs don't mind the car trip ours all seem to love it we've regularly taken a pig on a 100+ mile journey and they just sleep or stare out the box
