Hi, so I have two guinea pigs and i use fleece as the bottom of the cage. we clean the cage every two to three days and wash the fleece and towels. every time we put the fleece and towels in the wash it makes the entire wash smell like guinea pig hay even after i have shook off all the hay beforehand. does anybody have any suggestions on how to wash the fleece and towels? or should we switch to shavings?

I wouldnt switch to shavings. Look up aubious 👍 i gave up on fleece , it was ruininb my washing machine . Smelled like urine , took about 8 hot washes with white vinger and baking soda to get rid . The smell sinks in to the rubber door seal .

You could buy a horse wash bag and put them in there before washing. Also add vinegar to the conditioner compartment. If you want a cheap alternative you could also put them in a pillow case and tie it up. I’ve been doing a ‘clean’ wash every month For the past two months.
