I've had to have Betty pig pts. :'( I feel so sad about it, as i'd watched her being born and she's been a great little character.
On Saturday morning, when i went to give the herd their breakfast, she was hiding in the log tunnel. Betty never did this, so i just thought that i'd keep an eye on her. I didn't see them until that afternoon then, as i'd been to a show with my horse. When i gave them their tea, i saw that she had a very dull coat, so i picked her up. She ate out of my hand, and had a drink off a spoon, so i put her into the hidey-hole and shut the shed up. On Sunday, she came toddling over and ate her brekkie, and then some tea, but when i picked her up, she had lost alot of weight. Yesterday came, and she was so listless, but she ate her breakfast and then at tea-time, had a crust of burnt toast (a rare, Betty-pig only treat). I popped her in her hidey-hole again, before i went to bed, all snuggled up a fleece. Went out this morning, and she'd been laid in the shavings for a while. I fed the others, and wrapped her up in the fleece. Quickly went to the yard to turn the horses out, and then went to the vets. Got straight in to see the vet that treats my horses, she's really good, and i know her really well. She just said that she was sorry, and that there wasn't anything they could do.
RIP Betty Boop, 15th October 2005-6th February 2008. Love you pig. x
