Humbug has a heart problem

HI. My teddy boy had a scrape for hair loss and it came back as bacterial overgrowth (of normal skin flora). The vet said this may have resulted from an underlying issue. He has a heart murmur and they did an ultrasound yesterday and found his heart was not completely contracting so he has something called mitral regurgitation. He has been put on Ramipril and i have to divide up a capsule powder. Has anyone had experience with this? I am hoping he will put some weight on and grow his hair back.
