Well, she went in for a GA and flushing thurs night, and I fetched her home fri evening.. she's doing well, her wound looks good, and she's happy in herself..
She's to go back for a check up tomo:)
When the vet opened up the abscess, it contained a second one, which had become so thick, it had formed a second capsule around it, hence why it wouldn't drain properly last tues.. good reason for her to have the op:(|)
I'm flushing it out with salt water, and she's on baytril for the next week, with pro-biotic's to help her tummy:(|)
Before she took ill, we were booked in for a weekend away, so had to arrange a 'baby sitter' whilst we were there.. I worried about her, whether we should cancel, but as my friend is already a client at the same vets, I felt she was in safe hands, we needed the break as work has been really stressful of late..
So I left leaving strict instructions, and emergency numbers, in case Humbug took really poorly.. We didn't leave for hols until after 5 on fri, and we're back already just after lunch, sun, to be greeted by 6 happy furries, waiting for veg:a19:

Good news that Humbug came through her op ok. sounds like she definitely needed it.
Get better soon little girl. xx>>>

Glad she's doing well! I had to leave one of my pigs with a friend when she was recovering from abscess surgery... I was worried about her but she did just fine with my friend! I'm glad he got it drained and hope he is back to normal soon!

Well a secondary abscess burst the other day, reopening the site where the vet had cut into the original abscess, it was still swollen 4 days after surgery, so this wasn't unexpected, as there was a couple of pus pockets within it, and the third one's behind it, so waiting for that to burst.. but the swelling has gone right down, and is only the size of a large pea, so happy about that:(|)
She goes back monday for checkup, I expect she'll end up with another week of Baytril, to clear the last bit up:)

Well the third burst this morning, Humbug wasn't impressed when I cleaned her up.. when I had Marbles who had bumble foot in both her front feet, cleaning her wounds wasn't at all pleasant for both parties8... but there was a light at the end of the tunnel, when all of a sudden the healing process took over:(|)
Each day, Humbug improves immensely, she's so full of herself, running around winding the others up, rattling and bum swinging, I'm sure she wants the boss job when she grows up:)) Move over BonBon! Little girl with a big attitude coming in:(|)
It's hard to believe she's on baytril, no side effects what so ever, she's eating fine, pooping fine, and shows no signs of discomfort:) yeah for probiotics:a19:

Humbug is all better :)) Any sign of the abscess has gone, not even a pin sized lump now, she needed no further baytril after ten days from start of treatment, to second check up ten days later.
She's a happy little madam, back to creating havoc in the cage, go Humbug!^)
