Hi
I moved my 3 boys inside 4 weeks ago to a new cage. They were getting along fine but none of them really seemed to be the boss anymore since they'd beeen moved. However, since I gave them a bath last week my previous boss pig has been humping one of the others (this other pig was keen on being boss for a little while as well) and has started becoming aggressive. He pulls at he fur on his bum, mounts him and chatters his teeth loudly. I feel really bad for the other boy as he sometimes seems really nervous at times and makes submissive squeals. this aggressive behaviour seems to happen mostly when I'm in the room?! I left their door open last night to see if I could hear any aggressive noises but there was nothing?! The boss has now started on the other little pig as well  all my boys are around 15 months old. I was considering getting a dog pheromone diffuser or do you think I should trial separation? I don't want the others living in fear!

Thanks

The bathing has obviously removed the group smell.

Either sit it out or, if necessary, split the cage and let him cool down for a day or two (ideally still in contact through the bars) and then see how they do on neutral ground. I would not bathe again as that is only necessary when tow boys are close to a serious fight and are covered in testosterone-laden pee. Since the other two boys are submissive and the humping is not truly persistent, it is just your top boy throwing his weight around and establishing his dominance all over again, so your bond is not in danger of falling apart; follow the tips for potential bullying.

Thank you so much for your advice! I feel better now :D
