Hello, 20 minutes ago, one of my pigs got bitten by another pig, and he has a wound next to his eye, which is bleeding a little. I think that it doesn’t hurt him too much, as he didn’t squeak too much and ate the carrot which I gave him, but he looks a little frightened. My poor pig is in shock, what should I do?

I can't offer much advice other then make sure you clean the wound and stop it bleeding, I don't know if he would need to be seperated from his mate I suppose it depends on the situation surrounding the bite or If this would need pain meds

Hope he feels better soon! :)

Hey, you could take your piggie to the vet, they may decide your piggie needs antibiotics and pain relief? I took one of mine the other day after a fall out and some bites to his belly and neck, the consultation was 25 and the meds were another 25.
Might put your mind at ease having a professional loiok your piggie over

Thanks, we will take him to the vet tomorrow and see what happens. For know he’s in his cage with his mother and their both in a hiddy, we washed his wound.

Vets please. In case the wound is deep and gets infected. Pain relief may be needed also. Has it stopped bleeding. Please do not put him back in with the pig who has bitten him

Yes it stopped bleeding and we separated him from the pig that bit him. I think it was rather on purpose.

Please try to gently disinfect the wound with saline solution, preferably sterile one from the pharmacy. If you are worried, please see a vet. Give your boy time to recover and do not badger him.

Please separate the boys and follow the tips in this guide here: Boars: Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?

Thanks for the link, we will see the vet tomorrow if things get worse, but I think it will be okay.

make sure that you clean the wound with something,, maybe just a tissue? but make sure it isnt one with olbas oil on though!that would be very bad, i think its poisonous too. so just dabb around the wound gently until it stops bleeding.. and you may want to get your pig to a vet so they can take a look soon!
