I need to build a new hutch for my 4 sows. How big in feet would you recommend it to be?

Should i put a nest box at both ends so they can get away from each other if they have a tiff?

Any suggestions on design ideas? I want them to have enough room.

I would say 3x6 would be a nice size.
If your sows are anything like mine definately provide them with their own hidey holes.
As for design just think through how easy it will be for you to clean out for instance I hate shop bought hutches that have a ridge meaning you need to fit dustpan and brush inside rather than just have a good sweep out and wash down.
Also think outside of the box my husband has previously converted an old sideboard into a fab hutch.
Good Luck:)

I have three piggies in a 5ft by 2ft hutch. It has one bedroom with an opening door and a lounge area with two opening doors.
There are photos of it when it was being constructed on the thread several weeks back.

Two bedrooms seem a good idea, but it would be a shame if you had three tending to share one bedroom and the other piggy left out or kicked out into the other. Perhaps a large bedroom which they all could share would be ok, but with things to hide under or sleep inside elsewhere in the hutch.

Keep us posted on how the construction goes ... it's very exciting planning it, isn't it?! :):)

I love planning things like this. My dad is funny though, he's really good at diy but he has his ideas on what he would like to do, so sometimes its hard to get him to do what i want lol.

I hope they can all go in together. It's great having a little herd. I'll post some pics as its built. I'm planning on 6 foot by 2 or 3 foot. so that should be ok shouldn't it?
