Hello
I have a large outdoor hutch (that will be moved into a shed in the very cold weather), which I have just lined with self adhesive Lino flooring. I’m just wondering what to put on top of this for warmth and comfort- fleece or vet bed ?
Are both okay for outside ?
And over the whole flooring area?
Where do people source waterproof backed fleece liners ?
They can work out quite expensive so trying to work out what works best before buying !
Thanks
Emily

For outdoor or shed piggies it is best to use wood shavings and then topped with hay. The hay provides the insulation and warmth for them to snuggle into.

Fabric bedding outside/in sheds can be problematic as they can don’t dry properly due to the colder temperatures (you may be able to use fabric bedding if your shed is fully insulated and heated in winter).

If your shed is not heated, then you will also need to use snugglesafe heat pads to provide a warm area for them to sit

Thank you for your reply !
I wasn’t sure if I could use wood shavings but if this is the better option I’ll go with this. Thanks again for your help ☺️

Yes wood shavings are fine. Top with lots of soft hay.

I personally use snowflake soft chip - it’s the same stuff but it is chips rather than shavings. I find they’re more absorbent but don’t blow around like shavings do (my boys live in my shed year round.

to keep our GPs warm in the colder weather we have created a false ply floor in the bedding area and we pop a cosy Pod heat pad under the false floor this creates a more gentle heat(underfloor heating for them) they loved it last winter, also stops them peeing on the heat pad or trying to chew it

This is a brilliant idea ! Thank you for the tip, definitely going to have a go at this !
