Unfortunately, Hywel has developed complications from his neutering op and it has been a harrowing few days for all of us. He is currently back in more familiar surroundings at the rescue as we wanted to make him as comfy as possible to help his recovery.

Today, Hywel has finally started to improve a tiny bit after having been hit with a very strong antibiotic and is starting to be a little bit more interested in food again now that he is becoming a bit more comfy in himself, but it will probably take some time for him to recover fully, as he has lost an awful lot of weight in a very short time. We don't know for sure yet (and neither does the vet) what is exactly causing the blockade that has made his pooing increasingly painful; one possibility is an internal abscess. He's had an inconclusive x-ray on Friday, but no scan.

Please send him your vibes!

In addition, Telyn has been confirmed to have the beginnings of cataracts in both eyes. Congenital cataracts have a very strong genetic link, and there was always a good chance that she would develop them, too, after her mum Taffy had hers last autumn. It's not a surprise, but rather gutting nevertheless. Telyn (who is now one of the biggest girls) has always been my baby since she was only eight weeks old when she came here.

I am absolutley gutted for you that poor Hywel is so poorly and so soon after Llewelyn. He is in safe hands though and I have every faith that he will be just fine after being nursed back to health from yourself and Jo.

Come on Hywel, get well soon for mummy. She and your girls are missing you xxxxxxxxxx

As for Telyn, I am sorry. But again, you and the tribe will look after her and her mum will show her how to cope. Damn those breeders!!

(((hugs))) and vibes to you all xxxxxxxxxxx

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Hywel has been so poorly after his neutering op, poor boy. Sending my wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

Poor Telyn, hopefully she can rely on one of her buddies to show her where the good bits of food are. It's one thing after another for your gang at the moment Wiebke. Hugs to you all x

Oh no poor little man hope he is feeling much better soon he has a fabulous life to look forward to with you and the girls so I'm sure that will get him through.

My Trinny has cateracts both eyes now but * would never believe she has cloudy vision she acts no different to before. When we first realised we were both devestated at the thought of it but have taken great comfort from how she just gets on with everthing and does not seem to be bothered in anyway at all.

Sending * all huge hugs and support xxxxxx

I hope Hywel gets better soon and puts all his weight back on :)

Hopefully Telyn wont be too bothered by them and will continue on being happy xx

I hope Hywel gets better soon, it's awful having a sick piggy because all you can do is put your faith in the vets hands. My Bradley has been ill coming on for over a week now, he was in agony when pooping, lethargic, couldn't poop much and when he did it was all sloppy, generally he wasn't his usual self. Took him to the vets on Friday after I finally found a vet who knew her rodents! He is back to pooping normally and nearly back to his old self.

My thought are with you, and Hywel hurry up and get better for your wifeys! :)

sorry about Hywel. Get well soon little guy.

also sorry about Telyn's cataracts. My piggy Woog has them. She doesn't act different, but she looks a bit strange :{

Telyn is my third cataract piggy; so I know that they are fine once they have adjusted to their loss of clear vision. Taffy is comfortable in her surroundings now after an initial nasty hay poke and a couple of toe stubbs. I am sure that Telyn will be OK as well; it depends on how quickly and violently the cataracts develop.

Hywel is now three weeks post op; we just have to see how things are going. He had the same symptoms, soft poo, then increasing pain and on Friday lethargy. I had taken him to the vets who'd operated on him as soon as it was obvious that it wasn't just a little tummy upset due to his moving home and eating different foods; unfortuntely, he went downhill further after that initial vet visit. I am sure that we will be able to sort him out between us.

Oh Wiebke, I'm so sorry - poor Hywel :( Everything crossed for him here and a huge hugs to him, Telyn and of course you ..........

Teresa xx

Get Well Soon to Hywel from all my gang. I do hope his recovery is speedy and without any further complications.

Fingers and paws crossed for a full recovery for Hywel and easy adjustment for Telyn. Sending you all a big hug x

Oh what a shock for you, I really hope Hywel is ok and that little Telyn adjusts ok.

You seem to be getting a really hard time at the moment :( Sending lots of vibes for Hywel, I hope he improves and returns to his usual self as soon as possible. As for Telyn, she has the best possible care so I'm sure she'll adjust quickly and continue to thrive :) xx

Awww Wiebke! I'm so sorry to hear this, hoping Hywel gets better soon, sending lots of vibes and get well soon wheeks to him and hope he starts gaining the weight soon!

Telyn hopefully wont be too bothered by them, and will continue being a happy piggle!

Big Hugs your way,

Laura and the boys xxxxx

Hywel seems to have turned a corner now and looks like he is starting to eat again on his own and is making poos and pees again.

Jo has done wonders with her dedicated round-the-clock care over the last two days!

Just caught up with this, what a nightmare for you. So glad to hear things are improving for the little chap. Hop Telyn is ok too. x

Telyn is still completely fine; she has just the very beginnings. It depends on how quickly it comes on - the slower the easier for her to adapt.

oh poor little hywel hope he gets better soon so he can rule his harem,I'm sure once hes with his ladies he`ll realise it will all have been worth it :)
big wheeks to telyn hopefully she will cope fine

Great to hear that Hywel is showing signs of improvements. I hope that he continues to improve x x x x

They say bad news comes in threes, so am desperately hoping this is all the tribe's bad luck over for a long time, and the king in waiting is home and flirting with his ladies in no time xx

Get well soon Hywel, you have a lovely Tribe to go home to

Telyn you sisters will look after you

Hugs

I had Sue G and Claire W coming for a long planned visit here today, and we made time to visit Cheylesmore rescue where Sue is sponsoring little deaf/nearly blind Jasper.

Hywel is definitely facing life again after being on knife's edge over the weekend. He is producing and eating poos again and is busy cleaning himself, and his poos are starting to look normal, if still on the thin side. He is, however, not a well boy yet and still in some discomfort despite the painkiller and antibiotic, but even that is much improved compared to last Friday.

We are trying to arrange a visit to a competent vet to make sure that Hywel's permanent recovery can be ensured as much as possible.
