Leeland has been proving unfavourable of tap water lately. She would have about 5 mls and then turn her nose away. So I went to tesco the other day and spotted the mineral water isle, picked something in a glass bottle that wasnt too heavy and made off home with it.

Turned out this new brand of 'san pellengrino nature plonk' is quite alot more acceptable! One might say "blammy its fabbo!" She will drink and drink and drink! So in her water bowl it's gone and she gets 15mls 3 times a day. She's really perked up! (ooh and apologies for my 'orrendous manicure.. one does work 'ard with one's 'ands and doesnt have much time for lookin' pretty like)...

.. and just to say a little goodbye.. here is DT just before we buried her. Nighty night sweet cheeks x

When we first got her I was living on a farmhouse that had it's own water pump straight from the hill. When we moved to liverpool I think the taste of the copper/metallic tap wateryness was a bit grim for her. I dont care personally.. water's water! This stuff tastes alot like the other stuff I think. Costs about £1.80 I think for the bottle.. might last us a week? still trying to work out if it's worth it as a long term purchase. There's worse things in the world to spend £1.80 on a week :P

She is a fussy little princess, but she's a totally GORGEOUS fussy little princess! How beautiful is she, with her little feeties?! x) x) x) I love seeing piggies' front feet :) xoxo

Sorry to hear about DT, that really is a lovely tribute to her and she looks beautiful.

You need to be careful with giving bottled water; the mineral content (calcium particularly) is often much much higher than your average tap water.

Yeah the only problem with it is Calcium levels. I know Evian is quite high in Calcium.

Just try to go for the one with the lowest levels and stay away from veg high in calcium if she is going to continue drinking it.

Although I don't blame her. Tap water isn't my thing either :)) tastes awful to me

Awwww Leeland x) Bless her. A very pretty girl and such a little diva :)) But she deserves it! So pleased she is feeling better and her feet have healed well enough she feels she can show us a lovely chooken leg drool

As regards to Calcium in mineral water, I have been told that Deeside water is quite low compared to the others.

aaaah! good point! thanks :)

just found the website, apparently its from tuscanny.. is sourced from a sandstone rich geology and the Ca content is 32ppm (or mg/l)... how does that compare?

There is another as well, that I'll try and remember the name of for you... i'll pm you when I remember it.... Could be a while lol

lovely way to go......
talk about fussy! I thought Bertie was bad enough! Have you just tried letting tap water stand for 30 minutes so it gets room temp. and it does taste different. I am trying very hard not to turn the girls into little Divas, but if I am peeling Berties carrot and cutting it into batons, i might as well do the same for the girls!

Do you know anyone with a water filter that you could borrow for a few days to try her with filtered water? She may like the taste of that too.

When I moved from South Wales (a soft water area) to Bristol (a very hard water area) I noticed an instant drop in the amount of water that my piggies were drinking. At the time I didn't think much about it. Within 4 months of being in Bristol one of my boys developed a bladder stone and sadly passed away. Three months after that, Jerry's calcium - related bladder problems started. I did some reading around and found that filtering the water could help reduce the calcium level so I bought a water filter to give it a go. I thought that I may as well give the filtered water to all of the piggies, and not just Jerry, and as soon as I did they started emptying their bottles again. They definitely seem to prefer the taste of filtered water to ordinary tap water.

I have to agree with You Jerrybelly. My girls only drink filtered water. Even my parents brought a water filter for the pigs when we go and stay.

When we go on holiday and the pigs go to their small animal hotel, I take bottled mineral water that they drink but it's only for a week.

i don't think they would drink tap water now.

oh hey thats a great idea. Just spoke to the OH who loves to buy bottled water for himself, and he said if I get a filter he will use it and stop buy bottled. So definitely worth it!

Awww, what a spoiled little girl, real diva :(|)
But dont they deserve all our TLC, huh?

On the other hand they work really hard for all that special treatments - with all the cuddles and love they give us... x)
