Adult Guinea Pig
I just had to hurt Munchie again. For those of you that don't know - we had a bad few weeks in April/May where she had one abscess, then another, then another. I think I ended up helping her with 6 in the end. Well she has another one that she's opened up herself (lovely, I know).
Sooo, nurse mum came to the rescue. I've just had to clean her up, clean as much of the gunk as possible out (and my god there was a lot) and put some cream on it to soothe the itchiness and redness of her scratting. Poor little love was not a happy girl. Unfortunately the vet told me that she is probably going to get them from time to time for the rest of her life. She must be especially prone to them I guess.
Luckily we only have the one this time - not one on each of her lymph nodes. So I've been advised to keep her clean, keep flushing until it heals like last time and keep an eye on her. Antibiotics have never worked on her abscesses before so the vet has said that as long as she's cleaned regularly and I keep on top of the gunk I've just got to take her in if her lump shows any sign of further infection and they'll sort her out. I'm used to this now, so hopefully it will only take a few days to get her sorted out and healing up again!
Please send her lots of wheeky vibes! It's not pleasant for her, but she's such a brave little lass. I love her.
