I cleaned out my 3 girls c&c earlier and they all went to hide in their little house. Just now I went to check on them at bed time and my eldest sow was missing. Theres now way she could have climbed or jumped out but I was searching under all the furniture with a torch but to no avail. My hubby said "What did you do with the dirty bedding?" oh my god, it was outside and its close to freezing here. I rushed out and got the bag and to my horror there was a big hole chewed through it. I thought that was it, she had chewed her way out and had disappeared into the night. I undid the top and ..... there she was, sitting in the dirty hay looking somewhat bewildered. Thank the lord, she's a good weight and had the bedding to keep her warm. Shes had loads of cuddles and been reunited with her frinds now.

I can't believe I did that.. ... how terrible do i feel?
 
Oh how awful for you! At least she is safe and sound now. Poor girl, bet that was a bit of a shock for her!
 
Oh nooo! I bet you didn't know whether to laugh or cry! I'm so glad your hubby thought about the old bedding, I'm not sure I would have done and that she is ok. I think you may have to buy her some extra special veggies and treats to make up for it. :):rose
 
This is one you'll laugh about a long time from now, you found her, thats the important bit but yeah I'd like to know how she sneeked out lol ;)
 
No one can trash talk you for this. This was pure accident and in no way intentional, you are not a terrible person. And by you telling it here, maybe you will alert owners and save any future piggies that find themselves in similar situations.
 
Oh dear... Try not to worry we all do silly things from time to time. I bet you'll be checking all the dirty bedding like a mad woman from now on tho rolleyes
 
A least you found her and i agree its something you will laugh about in the future. I did something simular with a degu once, let them out put them back in and one was missing turned up in the laundry basket asleep :)
 
Oh god I agree I would have ha ** heart attack too!

These things happen - and no harm was done so don't beat yourself up over it.

The main thing is, you checked and noticed she was gone, and soon found her! I am sure she is no worse off for her ordeal.

Isn't it funny how we instinctively know when something isn't quite right?

Oh nooooo i would of paniced so much, but to be honest thats something id do :-/ ! Thankfully you found her safe :) xx
