Today I lost my beloved Wilbur who was 5 this week. He passed away this afternoon in my arms but as he made his way to the rainbow bridge I told him how much I love him and will never forget him. I do not know what to do with myself right now.
He had made many visits to Ellie the vet this year due to dental problems but has been fine for a couple of months now. I feel very guilty, as he began to show signs of illness on Sunday and I managed to get him an appointment with a vet this morning where he was prodded and poked and had 2 injections which would have stressed him but at the same time I would have the same guilty feelings if I had not taken him.
He leaves behind his partner Tilly who has been with him for 5 years. I put him near her after he had passed so she could say goodbye and she gently walked around him but then went to hide.

Just know how much I love you my darling boy and enjoy the lush meadows full of hay over the bridge, You are now with your brother Wilf x 🌈
 
I’m so sorry you lost him. It must have been a comfort that he passed away surrounded by your love. Do take good care of yourself.

I am so sorry for your loss. The decisions we make are always hard but I think you did the right thing taking him to the vet even tho he could not be saved. Popcorn free little man
 
I'm so sorry for the loss of lovely Wilbur and sending all my love to you and his cagemate, Tilly. It will feel raw and will hurt for a while but you did the right thing by him and he would have felt so loved and cared for by you. Take some time and give yourself rest where you need it. Take care.
