I have kept Guinea Pigs since 2007, and I really forgot how I actually went on to keep Guinea Pigs well... (P.S - I took 2 years break off Guinea Pigs.)

Uh, I mean, my 2 current baby boys are so spooked by me; I know it's natural and normal but... I feel that I am so failing as a new owner! They also refuse to eat their Bell Peppers currently but I will keep trying I guess...

I really hope I am doing fine. They are out with me and I'll scratch behind their ears while talking to them nightly since I got them-- I really miss those crazy wheeks whenever I come close to my pigs.

You ARE doing fine, and as for peppers, well not all piggies like them, or at least it can take them quite a while to do so. I've had fussy pigs and pigs who will eat anything.
I have also had one piggy from a baby who was born and raised in a nice home (no mental scars from coming from a bad place), and she took pretty much an entire year to decide to like me, and then she would not let me touch her.
If you have had guinea pigs who were very tame and bold before it can seem like you are doing something wrong when the new ones are skittish, but they all have different personalities and young ones are more likely to be skittish.

I agree! You're doing fine don't worry. :D

My first girls were so skittish for ages. They took months just to not run away when I entered the room. Now I get into the shed, sit down and they're climbing onto my knees begging for food. :)

I still have skittish guinea's! It just depends on their personalities, also guinea's are prey animals so do tend to be a bit skittish. They will be fine when they settle in properly :)

Thank you all! I guess I just need some assurances and I know I can seek some comfort here!

Hopefully they'll get used to me soon!

You're doing fine. Getting them comfortable takes a while. Once you have piggies that are well-socialized and not afraid, it can be hard to go back to the beginning (I feel like that a bit whenever I have a new baby pig! I never quite remember how fearful/skittish/crazy they are until I'm back in that stage again!) As for foods... not all pigs will eat all pigs. None of my pigs like peppers. When we got Hadley, it took her ages to realize that the stuff we kept offering to her was actually food. Apparently she hadn't had fresh veggies before. She eventually decided carrots were edible but had to see another pig eating lettuce to figure out it was also for eating. Hang in there, they will come along day by day!

Thanks folk!
They popcorns whenever I spot clean their cage now! And they are polishing off ALL their vegs (Except for the stalks! Naughty!)!
