As many of you know I have outside piggies as I have no room for them in the house or the garage and we (OH, son and I) built them a luxury Piggy Palace last weekend. They were enjoying the freedom of much more space when I had to block of the bottom tier to help them warmer during this super cold snap. They were confused last night at veg time as I always give them dinner downstairs and as soon as they heard it was dindins they all obediently went to where the top of the ramp was and looked very confused when they couldn't go down and they had their veg at the top. They seem a bit unsettled as they can't go down. It's only until the Siberian Winter weather has passed through so won't be for long then they can have the full hutch again. I love my piggies and only want what is best for them. Atm it is not letting them have the full hutch for a temporary basis so that they keep warmer. 5 piggies in the top of the hutch is going to be warmer for them than if they were spread over both layers. Hopefully this cold very snap will only last for a few days as is forecasted. Then I'll be Mrs Popular again when they have the full run of the hutch. Obviously there are load of things to keep them warm and lots of hay for them to snuggle into.

:)) They will soon forget this inconvenience, remember the size of their tiny heads means tiny brains.... Tiny brains that are soon full of ideas about veggie nom noms and grass to worry about anything else.....

Ahhh I’m sure they’ll be happy & cozy together in the top layer. 5 piggies will keep lovely & warm together . They’ll no doubt be planning what mischief they can get up to as soon as they have full run of the whole palace again. x

You clearly haven’t explained to them that this temporary inconvenience is because you love them and want them to stay warm!

Oh right! I'll go out, lift up both covers and explain again (possibly didn't make myself clear enought first time round) that they won't be confined forever. Hopefully just a few days and nights.

As Lee said, they'll soon forget when they have full bellies!

No they certainly don't! Have just brought them inside tonight it is going to be -7 here. Last night they said -1 in my garden this morning it was -6! Had I known this I would have brought them in last night. They are currently in my Conservatory which is the coolest room in the house as I don't want the temperature change to be too much for them. They are not used to being inside so are hiding. As soon as the other duvet is clean, I'll pop it over the top so that they feel a bit safer. They are used to being on a duvet when they are outside on the patio in the run. I have put some bin liners on the floor under the duvet so that the floor underneath doesn't get soaked in wee. The carrier has pee pads in under the day too.

Ahhh you’re such a thoughtful piggie mummy. That looks like a lovely indoor piggie palace. I hope they’ve acclimatised & feel happy & more confident. Weather forecast looks like it’s gonna get even colder in the next couple days... bbrrrrr.
I’ve given Heidi extra cuddles this morning as she’s the one with permanently cold feet & ears despite being a pampered indoor piggie x

Your piggys will soon settle in their new surroundings, much better than being outside in minus temperatures. I'm sure if they knew why they are in that cage they would appreciate it. Better for you not to have to go outside to see to them too.
Spike and Peanut are curled banana shape either side of a snugglesafe with their noses touching.:luv:

Thanks @Hoppity.K. I did ask @Tim for some advice about temperature changes and it was Tom's inspired idea to put them in the outdoor run as the 2 cages I have are too small as they are hamster cages. They are 80cms x 48cms and 63cms x 43cms.

Glad they came inside, they will soon forgive you with all the food and cuddles. I do giggle at your shock of -7. We’ve had -14 here which is extremely unpleasant to go outside in.
For the record I don’t like -7 either but rather that than lower!

@Squeakz -7 is very low for the Southern part of England.

Yep they were out and about earlier on. They were diving for cover whenever they heard the sound of the patio door opening and closing too but now they are getting used to it and don't scarper all the time. They didn't think much of the hoover sucking up the poops though:yikes:.

Ahhh, mine are a bit scared of the hoover even when I hoovered the other room today they ran & hid! Heidi likes the dustpan & brush though.... particularly the brush. Each time we use it in their enclosure, she rushes over to say hello to Mr Brush  :D

That made me laugh out loud! I can't use the brush in the run as it is too low down so I have to use the hoover. Problem is where the piggies are on a duvet, as it is a temporary arrangement and I don't have any fleece, when the hoover sucks up the poop it also sucks up a bit of duvet causing the poop to bounce. So I have a case of bouncy guinea pig poop!:help::yikes:

And I’m sure, if they’re true guinea pigs, they’ll poop even more frequently than ever before on the duvet, just to annoy you, the hoover & the bouncing poops !
